Cards

Employee cards

Contract duration

Represents the number of days an employee stays in the forge.

The departure of employees causes constant turnover in the forge and provides new opportunities to diversify its staff.

Order cards

The reward

Each order rewards the player with bags of gold, which represent the game points.

The more difficult the order is to produce, the greater the reward will be.

Utility cards

Accommodation Cards

This category of card serves to accommodate an employee by making their work environment more suited to the particularities of their race, giving them a production value bonus.

Examples of cards:

- Elevated Anvil → Adapts the anvil to the size of the ogre.

- Step Stool → Helps the goblin to better reach the anvil.

- Bucket of Water → Makes the amphibian's environment more pleasant.

User interface

The Forge

The desk is where most of the player’s interactions take place.

It contains :

  • The player's stats.

  • The crystal ball to spy on the enemy forge.

  • The bell that allows to end the turn.

  • The paper holder with various options.

  • The book containing the history of the cards played by the player.

The cards

For the cards, we chose scrolls with various stamps to make them diegetic.

Our goal for this game was to design a diegetic user interface to enhance the player’s immersion in their role as a forge manager.

Tutorial

Since L'Union fait la Forge is a game with a certain level of complexity, we opted for an onboarding-style tutorial.
